Warren Buffett to Visit South Korea
Oct 5th, 2007 by Martin Lee
Warren Buffett will visit South Korea later this month, according to a short news article reported by leading Korean newspaper The Chosun Ilbo.
It will be Warren Buffett’s first visit to the country. On the itinerary will be a tour of a Berkshire subsidiary in the city of Daegu, lunch with Korean business leaders and a news conference.
Of late, Warren Buffett has been showing interest in Korea because he finds their shares under-valued. Earlier in this year, Berkshire had purchased a 4% stake in POSCO, a Korean steel company. That stock is now up more than 150%.
It has even been reported in Wall Street Journal that Warren Buffett had purchased some Korea shares for his own personal portfolio. The sizes of these transactions were too small to make them meaningful purchases for Berkshire.
